Who we are

SolveCapture is made by Solverise, 27 Felixstowe Close, Reading, RG6 3UF. Solverise is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at kavita@solverise.co.

What SolveCapture keeps on your Mac

  • Captures you save: in a SolveCapture folder on your Desktop, or a folder you choose.
  • The library: working copies of your captures, thumbnails and a history of your captures, in a folder on your Mac (Library, Application Support, Pinpoint). By default captures stay there until you delete them.
  • Where each capture came from: the library records the name of the app and the title of the window each capture was taken from, so you can search by them. This stays in the library and is never sent anywhere.
  • Settings: in SolveCapture’s own preferences, inside its sandbox on your Mac. The first time you open it, SolveCapture moves your settings across once from an earlier version, if you had one.
  • Logs: files about how the app is running, in a folder on your Mac (Library, Logs, Pinpoint). Each day’s log is deleted after 3 days.

What leaves your Mac

Nothing. SolveCapture makes no connections: no update check, no analytics, no account and no upload.

  • Text recognition runs on your Mac, using Apple’s own on-device recognition.

What SolveCapture reads

  • The screen, the list of open windows and the names of open apps, only to take captures and to label them in the library.
  • Your desktop wallpaper, only to use it as a background behind a capture. SolveCapture hides desktop icons in a capture by leaving them out of the picture, not by changing Finder.

SolveCapture writes to the clipboard when you copy a capture. It does not use your contacts or location, and it does not change other apps’ data.

Permissions SolveCapture asks for

Notifications

Information we collect

SolveCapture sends no information to Solverise. If you email us for help, we use your message only to answer you. We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you, and delete them two years after the last message.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

SolveCapture has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting service.

Purchases

Apple processes purchases made through the Mac App Store. Solverise does not receive your payment details. Apple's handling of your information is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Your rights

Because our apps send us nothing, the only personal information we hold is what you send us by email. You can ask us to show you, correct or delete it by writing to kavita@solverise.co. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

SolveCapture collects no information from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what an app does with your information, we will also say so in that app’s release notes.
