Who we are

SolveText is made by Solverise, 27 Felixstowe Close, Reading, RG6 3UF. Solverise is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at kavita@solverise.co.

What SolveText keeps on your Mac

  • Your documents: where you save them, as plain Markdown.
  • Pictures you paste or drop: in an assets folder beside the document.
  • Previous versions: each save that changes a file keeps the version before it, in a folder on your Mac (Library, Application Support, co.solverise.solvetext). These are copies of your documents. They are kept under 5 GB in all, with the oldest dropped first, and never beside your documents or inside their folders.
  • Open Recent: the list of files you opened recently, in the same folder.

What leaves your Mac

Nothing, unless you choose to show a note’s web pictures.

  • Web pictures: a note’s pictures stored on the web stay hidden until you click Show web pictures on that note. SolveText then fetches each picture, with no cookies and no referrer, and never from your own Mac or your local network. As with any browser or mail app, the websites holding those pictures see an ordinary request from your Mac, including its internet address.
  • Links: web and email links in a note open in your browser or mail app, only when you click them.
  • Import and text recognition run on your Mac, including the reading of scanned pages with Apple’s own on-device recognition.

What SolveText reads

  • The Markdown files and documents you open, import or drop on it.
  • Pictures your notes point to on your Mac, shown in the page as pictures only.
  • The clipboard, when you paste.
  • For notes in a folder of linked notes, the names of the notes in that folder, to follow wiki links. SolveText never reads another app’s settings kept there and never reaches outside that folder.

SolveText does not use your camera, microphone, contacts or location, and it does not change other apps’ data.

Permissions SolveText asks for

None. SolveText asks for no special access to your Mac.

Information we collect

SolveText sends no information to Solverise. If you email us for help, we use your message only to answer you. We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you, and delete them two years after the last message.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

SolveText has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting service.

Purchases

Apple processes purchases made through the Mac App Store. Solverise does not receive your payment details. Apple's handling of your information is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Your rights

Because our apps send us nothing, the only personal information we hold is what you send us by email. You can ask us to show you, correct or delete it by writing to kavita@solverise.co. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

SolveText collects no information from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what an app does with your information, we will also say so in that app’s release notes.
